About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Actuarial Executive to join our team in Sandton. As a key member of our actuarial department, you will be responsible for managing projects, producing reports, and performing reviews and analyses in all areas of short-term actuarial services. Your expertise in stochastic risk adjustment calculations, IFRS 17 reporting requirements, and capital modelling will be invaluable to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage projects, produce reports, perform reviews and analyse results in all areas of short-term actuarial services
  • Review technical provisions – IBNR, UPR, AURR, including stochastic risk adjustment calculations in R/Python
  • Assist clients with their IFRS 17 reporting requirements
  • Provide HAF support
  • Capital modelling, including reviews of economic capital models, building challenger models, and quantitative validation of the SAM/RBC standard formula
  • Reinsurance reviews and stochastic optimisation, including geospatial modelling
  • Product pricing and design, including reviews, working with GLMs, GAMs, etc.
  • Projection models for ORSA/FCR and business plans
  • Provide technical advice to General Insurance clients
  • Ensure that reports include insight/value-add for clients
  • Support the Associate Directors
  • Perform market studies and research

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, Statistics, Mathematics, etc.
  • At least seven years’ experience in General Insurance, pricing or reserving and capital modelling
  • Qualified or near qualified actuary
  • Experience in managing projects and people (advantageous)
  • Experience with SAM, ORSAs, valuations and solvency calculations will be beneficial
  • Strong proficiency in statistical modelling techniques and programming languages such as R, would be advantageous
  • Strong work ethic and highly motivated
  • Effective communication
