About the Role
Hire Resolve’s client, a leading mining company based in Gauteng, is seeking a skilled Group Engineering Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will provide engineering technical support and incorporate new technologies for the group, while overseeing project management, design, and construction of all engineering functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Engineering Technical Support and Incorporating New Technologies for the Group
- Overseeing Project Management, Design and Construction (Planning, Design, Construction, Commissioning and Handover) for all engineering functions in the Group.
- Ensure the safe design, installation, operation and maintenance of all machinery and equipment
- Ensure compliance to the provisions of the Mine Health and Safety Act and Regulations (Act 29 of 1996) in area of responsibility.
- Overseeing the metallurgical production plant and tailings storage facilities of the engineering sections in the Group.
- Overseeing all aspects of engineering of the underground and surface operations.
- Ensuring the implementation and maintainining of standards, procedures and codes of practice.
- Ensuring effective labour utilization in the engineering department.
- Overseeing and monitoring the engineering expenditure and budgeting. Maintain and establish a cost system with effective budgets parameters, reconciling of all engineering accounts (e.g., Eskom bill, Invoices and etc.)
- Ensure the work cycle management is functional and deviations are reviewed i.e., maintenance schedules, works orders & breakdowns
- Ensuring the implementation of a maintenance plan – short, medium, and long term inclusive of inspection, log sheets and log books, condition monitoring and planned maintenance shutdowns
- Identify value added engineering projects and implement.
- Develop and maintain a feedback and reporting system to manage activities in your area of responsibility
- Enforce engineering data procurement i.e. OEM manuals, drawings in the centralized library
- Guide and assisting to reduce repeat breakdowns through instituting discipline on breakdown investigations
- Guide and assist to reduce mean time to repair (MTTR) on breakdowns
Requirements
- GCC Mines and Works
- National Diploma/BTech Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
- At least 10 years of experience in the mining industry, both underground and surface.
- Experience in Process Plant, Operation and Maintenance (TMMs, Conveyor Belts, Screening, Thickening, etc.)
