About the Role

The Mathematics Facilitator plays a crucial role in facilitating learning and teaching in a dynamic and inclusive environment, promoting active student engagement, collaboration, and reflective practice. This facilitator will work closely with the academic team to design, review, update, and enhance undergraduate learning materials, ensuring consistency with accredited module outcomes and NQF levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the requisite content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge in alignment with institutional standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop facilitation session plans to facilitate the requisite content knowledge, and interactive learning activities that foster critical thinking and practical application.
  • Apply diverse and innovative pedagogical strategies to support active student engagement and learning.
  • Promote epistemic justice practices in all learning and teaching activities.
  • Provide academic mentorship and guidance to undergraduate students.
  • Assess student performance through various assessment activities.
  • Monitor student progress and offer timely, constructive feedback.
  • Identify and address learning challenges in collaboration with the academic and administrative support teams.
  • Collaborate with the academic team to design, review, update, and enhance undergraduate learning materials.

Requirements

  • A Masters degree in Education, specializing in Sociology of Education or Psychology of Education.
  • Teaching qualification (e.g., BEd, PGCE) with a minimum of five years teaching experience in Senior Phase and/or Further Education and Training Teaching Phase.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in teaching or facilitation in Higher Education.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Education or currently registered for a PhD will be given preference.
