About the Role
The Skilled Worker is responsible for supporting electrical and instrumentation installation activities within industrial, heavy engineering, or power plant environments. The role focuses on assisting with cable installations, instrument mounting, testing support, and maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install cable trays, conduits, and support structures
- Assist with instrument installation, mounting, and tubing work
- Pull, route, and dress cables according to technical drawings and specifications
- Support cable glanding and termination activities
- Testing and Maintenance Support
- Assist supervisors with loop checks, testing, and commissioning activities
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in good condition
- Support mechanical and electrical teams during installation work
- Ensure compliance with all site safety procedures and permit requirements
- Maintain housekeeping standards on site
- Report defects, hazards, and incomplete work to supervisors
- Ensure work is completed according to quality standards and specifications
Requirements
- Matric or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 10 years experience within industrial, power plant, or heavy engineering environments
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Experience with cable installations and support systems
- Knowledge of instrument mounting and tubing installations
- Understanding of industrial electrical and instrumentation practices
- Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools
- Knowledge of site safety procedures and requirements
