About the Role
Join our luxury boutique lodge in the UNESCO-recognised Waterberg Biosphere Reserve as a Bar Steward/Butler, delivering exceptional beverage service and creating memorable experiences for international guests. With an extensive redevelopment underway, we’re seeking a mature, self-motivated individual to lead our bar operations with confidence, professionalism, and strong guest engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all bar operations with confidence, professionalism, and strong guest engagement.
- Prepare and serve coffees, cocktails, wines, spirits, and lodge standard beverages.
- Drive drink sales through personality, product knowledge, and guest interaction.
- Host wine tastings, food and wine pairings, themed drink evenings, and other creative beverage experiences.
- Control bar stock, monitor usage, and report low stock promptly.
- Execute regular stock takes with high accuracy and maintain organised storage.
- Ensure bar areas remain clean, well presented, and fully stocked.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and beverage presentation.
- Accurately operate the POS system, process all sales, and complete end-of-shift tasks including reconciliations, reports, and accurate recordkeeping of all supporting slips.
- Assist with meal service, table setup, clearing, and resetting.
- Deliver warm, attentive, and professional service throughout all dining experiences.
- Support the kitchen team during busy periods to protect service flow.
- Welcome guests on arrival and conduct room and lodge orientation tours.
- Communicate guest requests promptly and accurately to all relevant departments.
- Manage guest schedules, activity times, and daily flow.
- Assist with guest activities and ensure smooth coordination.
- Maintain a warm, confident, and engaging presence throughout the guest stay.
- Step in during crises or high-pressure moments (urgent turn downs, room resets, guest requests).
- Maintain a team-first attitude to ensure seamless guest service.
- Anticipate guest needs and act proactively to protect the overall experience.
- Support the other two butlers when needed.
- Assist other departments to maintain smooth lodge operations.
- Report maintenance issues promptly.
Requirements

- Excellent English fluency (written & verbal)
- Highly presentable/take pride in your appearance
- Minimum 4 years bar service experience – confident in making coffees, cocktails and lodge standard beverages
- Strong organisational and stock control skills
- Butler and serving experience required
- Outgoing; charismatic personality with strong sales ability
