About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Butler/Waiter to join our luxury boutique lodge in the Waterberg Biosphere Reserve, South Africa. As part of our guest-facing service team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional hospitality and ensuring seamless experiences for our international guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome guests on arrival and conduct room and lodge orientation tours
- Manage guest schedules, activity times, and daily flow
- Assist with guest activities and ensure smooth coordination
- Deliver warm, attentive, and professional service throughout all dining experiences
- Support the kitchen team during busy periods to protect service flow
- Ensure dining areas remain clean, organised, and guest ready at all times
- Make basic coffees, cocktails, and lodge standard beverages
- Serve guests, take drink orders, and use the POS system correctly and accurately
- Control bar stock, monitor usage, and report low stock promptly
- Execute regular stock takes with high accuracy and maintain organised storage
- Assist housekeeping when therapists are busy with spa treatments
- Maintain a team first attitude to ensure seamless guest service
- Anticipate guest needs and act proactively to protect the overall experience
- Assist other departments when needed
- Uphold lodge hygiene, safety, and presentation standards
Requirements
- Relevant experience in lodge service, waitering, bar service, or guest hosting
- Ability to make basic coffees, cocktails, and drinks; bar experience essential
- Confident, well-spoken, and comfortable interacting with international guests
- Understanding or speaking of the Afrikaans language (desirable)
- South African wine knowledge (desirable)

Gross monthly salary: R7,000.00 – negotiable

Additional Information
- Lunch and dinner provided during rostered on duty period
- Private bedroom in staff housing, with communal bathroom and kitchen facilities
- Water and electricity included
- Uniform provided, excluding footwear
- Self-service laundry facilities available (6 days per calendar month)
- 15 days leave days per annum
- Remote, on-site living position with single accommodation; candidates must be comfortable living in a quiet, rural environment
- Due to the nature of the accommodation and operational requirements: family, children, and pets cannot be accommodated
- Must have access to Whatsapp video / Zoom / Microsoft Teams for initial interviews
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an in-person interview at the property
- Must be willing to potentially complete a personality and character assessment during the interview process
- Must be willing to potentially undergo a criminal record check and polygraph examination prior to final appointment
