About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines across Azure (Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake, Databricks) and AWS (Glue, Redshift, S3, Lambda, EMR, Athena).
  • Design and manage robust ETL/ELT frameworks to ingest, transform, and integrate data from multiple on-premise and cloud-based sources.
  • Partner closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into reliable, production-ready data solutions.
  • Optimise pipeline performance, data models, and queries to ensure efficiency, scalability, and cost effectiveness.
  • Establish and enforce strong data quality, reliability, and validation practices through testing, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Implement security, governance, and compliance controls aligned to financial services and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5+ years’ experience in data engineering, with exposure to banking or financial services environments considered an advantage.
  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise across Azure and AWS data platforms.
  • Strong programming and querying skills in SQL, Python, and Apache Spark (PySpark or Scala).
  • Practical experience with tools such as Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Data Lake, and/or AWS Glue, Redshift, EMR, Athena, and S3.
  • Working knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD practices for data platforms (e.g. Git, Azure DevOps, AWS CodePipeline).
  • Cloud certifications such as Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate or AWS Certified Data Analytics are advantageous.
