Job Description

About the Role

Emerge is seeking a DevOps and Cloud (AWS) Infrastructure Lead to join their team in Johannesburg. As a key player in evolving their existing infrastructure, you will be responsible for ensuring the security, resilience, scalability, and growth of their hosting environments. With a strong focus on modern DevOps principles, this role requires a unique blend of hands-on operational expertise and strategic leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the security, resilience, scalability, and growth of hosting environments
  • Bridge legacy infrastructure with modern DevOps principles
  • Deliver reliability today while building a strong foundation for tomorrow
  • Manage internal tooling and support custom platforms (if applicable)
  • Implement and maintain disaster recovery frameworks
  • Oversee patching cycles and CAB processes

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in infrastructure or system administration
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a leadership or team management role as a DevOps Lead
  • Knowledge and experience with ISO27001:2022, including implementation and compliance (preferred)
  • Experience with disaster recovery frameworks and CAB processes
  • Familiarity with managing internal tooling and supporting custom platforms (advantageous)
  • Prior experience in a B2B SME environment (preferred)
  • Experience with AWS

Qualifications

  • Formal tertiary qualification in IT or related field (advantageous)
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, CompTIA Linux+, ITIL, or ISO27001 Lead Implementer (advantageous)
  • Equivalent experience in lieu of formal qualification will be considered

Salary & Benefits

Cost to company salary of up to R900K per annum, depending on experience and ability.
