About the Role
A Luxury Wine Estate based in Stellenbosch/Brackenfell is seeking a highly skilled Facilities Manager to oversee estate and farm maintenance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of all facilities, while also implementing sustainability measures and managing various aspects of the estate’s operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Run routine safety inspections
- Correspond with contractors
- Plan and execute maintenance work
- Maintain records
- Supervise facilities staff
- Oversee maintenance and machinery/equipment costs
- Initiate, manage, and cost new projects
- Ensure completion on budget or account for variance
- Implement sustainability measures to achieve compliance with various bodies
- Oversee security on the estate, including CCTV, alarm systems, barrier, and electric fence
- Implement health and safety measures, including risk assessments and incident investigations
- Manage housekeeping and team structures
- Monitor solar and water systems
- Conduct yearly services and weekly/monthly audits
- Manage fire systems, including fire panels, firefighting equipment, monitoring devices, hydrants, and sprinklers
- Conduct OHS, fire, medical, and incident training
- Oversee golf operations, including in-range systems, power backups, and golf equipment maintenance
- Monitor servicing schedules and safety of items used by guests
- Ensure ongoing maintenance of the manor house and manage teams working there
- Conduct weekly operations/facilities meetings and ad hoc meetings to address concerns or project feedback
Requirements
- Grade 12 National Diploma or degree in Facilities Management, Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical), or a related field
- Minimum of 3–7 years in facilities management with experience in managing multiple sites, vendors, and service level agreements
- Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing)
- Proficiency in MS Office and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Detailed knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and security protocols
- Experience in preparing, monitoring, and managing operational budgets and vendor contracts
