We’re on the lookout for a Lead Model Validation Analyst to join our Model Risk team in beautiful Stellenbosch. What you’ll do:
As our Lead Model Validation Analyst, you’ll:

  • Validate, challenge, and review complex machine learning and statistical models
  • Take ownership of end-to-end ML projects (from design to delivery)
  • Mentor and guide junior analysts, spotting skills gaps and supporting growth
  • Present and defend findings to model developers and senior management
  • Collaborate across technical and business teams to ensure robust, reliable models

What we’re looking for:

  • Education: Honours Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science
  • Experience: 6+ years in model development, with direct model validation or review experience
  • Technical expertise:
    • Tree-based methods, neural networks, clustering, anomaly detection
    • Advanced statistical or machine learning techniques
    • Cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and exposure to emerging tech like large language models is a bonus
  • Strong skills in data mining, predictive modelling, and end-to-end project delivery
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management
