Job Summary
Job Title: Millwright / Mechanical Fitter / Machine Mechanic
Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation of Machinery:
o Assemble, install, and align complex mechanical systems and machinery in industrial settings, such as factories, power plants, and mills.
o Ensure that machinery is properly positioned and securely fastened.
o Perform the initial setup, ensuring all machinery complies with safety standards and operational specifications.
Must speak Afrikaans
2. Maintenance and Repairs:
o Conduct regular inspections and diagnostics of machinery and equipment to identify any issues or potential malfunctions.
o Perform preventive maintenance to ensure the continued operation of machinery and reduce downtime.
o Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues.
o Replace faulty components or systems and perform welding, cutting, or machining to repair damaged parts.
3. Upgrades and Modifications:
o Suggest improvements or modifications to existing machinery for increased efficiency, safety, or performance.
o Implement system upgrades as needed, including the installation of new technology.
4. Technical Support and Documentation:
o Provide technical support and training to other employees regarding equipment operation and maintenance.
o Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory.
5. Safety Compliance:
o Ensure all work complies with local health and safety regulations.
o Follow proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures to ensure the safety of workers when repairing or maintaining equipment.
6. Collaboration with Other Teams:
o Work closely with engineers, electrical technicians, and other specialists to ensure the proper functioning of integrated systems.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education: A technical or vocational diploma in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Several years of experience in machine maintenance or mechanical assembly, typically in manufacturing, energy, or industrial sectors.
Skills:
o Proficient in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
o Familiarity with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software for machine layouts and modifications.
o Welding, metalworking, and machining experience.
o Knowledge of safety standards and regulations.
o Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
o Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Work Environment:
Millwrights in the Netherlands often work in manufacturing plants, factories, power generation facilities, or shipyards.
The job may involve working in challenging conditions, such as at heights or in confined spaces, depending on the industry.
