About the Role

The Nelson Mandela University is seeking a highly motivated and passionate Lecturer to join our Faculty of Education in the Department of Post Schooling, as part of Phase 11 of the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP). The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the digitalisation of TVET education, promoting research in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education, and mentoring students at various levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage and manage teaching, learning and curriculum development in the digitalisation of TVET for sustainability within the Post Schooling Department

• Promote and conduct research in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (Ai) in Education

• Mentor and supervise postgraduate students at Honours and Master’s level

• Mentor and evaluate students during College Based Learning

• Participate in academic administration, including serving on faculty committees

• Engage in professional development activities to stay abreast of advancements in the areas of Digitisation, Robotics, AI in education, education pedagogies and research methodologies

Requirements

• Minimum: Relevant Master’s degree in Education/TVET/Digital Learning/Sustainability or equivalent

• The master’s degree must be achieved with an average of 70% or above

• The candidate must be a registered PhD candidate or intending to register within the first or second year of the appointment with clear evidence of research focused on the above-stated themes

• Minimum 1 year in lecturing and/or tutoring or some other form of facilitating learning in the higher education sector in digital transformation, ICT/EdTech, or 4IR/digital skills and/or related fields
