About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and creative Pastry Sous Chef to join our luxury private game reserve in Greater Kruger. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional desserts and baked goods in a high-end bush environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present high-quality pastries, desserts, breads, and baked goods
- Design and develop innovative dessert menus in line with property standards
- Ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation
- Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards
- Manage stock, ordering, and minimise waste
- Work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team for seamless service
- Cater to dietary requirements and special guest requests
- Monitor and control food costs within the pastry department
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the pastry kitchen
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef within a luxury hospitality environment
- Strong creativity and passion for pastry arts
- Solid understanding of baking techniques, ingredients, and presentation
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications (e.g. Baking and Pastry Arts Diploma, etc.)
Salary & Benefits
