Location:
Ottery, Cape Town
Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Trade Tested Tool, Jig & Die Maker (MERSETA)
- Minimum N2 qualification
- 10–15 years’ experience (or more) as a Toolmaker within the manufacturing industry
- Extensive experience working with Toolroom equipment and machinery
- Strong knowledge of plastics processing and mould maintenance
- Vast experience in all types of mould maintenance and related components
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and technical schematics
- Advanced fault finding and analytical problem-solving skills
- Sound knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and safe working procedures
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- High level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities:
Toolroom Operations
- Operate all Toolroom machinery efficiently, cost-effectively and safely
- Manufacture and maintain moulds, tooling and related engineering components
- Ensure all Toolroom equipment and machinery are maintained in good working order
- Maintain stock of machining and cutting tools
Manufacture & Repair of Moulds
- Manufacture and repair moulds and related components with precision from technical drawings
- Conduct fault finding and troubleshooting on moulds and tooling
- Assess tooling returned from production and trigger work orders where required
- Assist with mould design input and manufacturing improvements
- Prioritise schedules according to production requirements
- Liaise with management regarding production discrepancies
Reporting & Administration
- Report according to performance standards and deadlines
- Maintain responsibility for the machine shop and its contents
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting of Toolroom activities
Mentorship
- Train and mentor Tool, Jig & Die apprentices
- Support skills transfer and technical development within the Toolroom
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards
- Maintain housekeeping standards within the Toolroom
- Apply GMP and Food Safety Management System (FSMS) standards
Continuous Improvement
- Drive process improvements and technical innovation
- Maintain strong communication with production and technical teams
- Uphold company quality standards and best practices
