Job Summary
Our client is looking for a Commercial Support Specialist to join their team.
Responsibilities:
Manage ad-hoc rate requests, including requesting buying rates from shipping lines as needed. Request and capture monthly buying rates, ensuring deadlines are met. Request monthly BAF (Bunker Adjustment Factor) updates. Update both internally and externally on BAF and Period changes for nominated vessels. Inform the selling team of any ad-hoc and monthly rate changes or surcharges. Keep other departments within the company informed of any important rate-related issues or scenarios. Request, capture, and manage carrier haulage rates. Request, capture, and manage shipping line destination charges as needed. Process shipping line invoices, verifying them against received quotes. Process cold store invoices received. Update relevant changes and notices in the system as received from the industry. Treat all information as confidential. Key Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills to manage workload and prioritize tasks. Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work under pressure and meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines. Resilient and able to work all hours and from home when needed. Ability to identify team needs and assist where required. Knowledge of Google Workspace (Google Sheets) and Excel, along with proper email etiquette. Ability to read and understand shipping freight and other charges. Fast learner in internal and external computer systems and processes. Ability to work with multiple key stakeholders both internal and external in a dynamic, changing industry environment. Qualifications: Grade 12 (Essential). Diploma in Shipping, Clearing and Freight Forwarding, Distribution and Logistics Business Management, or related field (Desirable). Minimum of 2 years of experience in Freight Forwarding and Logistics
