About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Safety, Health & Environment Officer to join our team based in the Greater Amatola area (Eastern Cape). The successful candidate will provide support and guidance to Managers on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) matters within the Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support and guidance to Managers on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) matters within the Group
- Investigate incidents using root cause analysis tools and compile incident reports
- Implement, monitor and enforce compliance to OHS legislation
- Conducting OHS audits
- Review and update safety management systems and related training programmes
- Monitor and report on all incidents and accidents
- Provide first responder assistance to medical emergencies (during and after hours)
- Compile and present Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly reports
- Participate in workplace committees and forums
- Assist and participate in fire-fighting operations
- Manage emergency preparedness of sites
- OD (Injury on Duty) mitigation and management
- Contractor management
- Site environmental management and compliance
- Maintain risk registers
Requirements
- SAMTRAC Qualification or equivalent
- Occupational Health and Safety Act Training Certificate
- Firefighting and emergency procedures training
- Min 3 Years related experience in ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act in a forestry related industry
- First aid/medical response training
- Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Strong administrative skills
- Valid drivers licence
