About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of our Avocado and Macadamia farm in Tzaneen, South Africa. This includes overseeing daily operations, implementing production strategies, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day farming activities, including planting, harvesting, and crop maintenance.
- Develop and implement production plans to maximize yields and minimize waste.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP/BRC/SIZA regulations and maintain accurate records.
- Supervise and train farm staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Monitor and control pest and disease management, implementing integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
- Maintain accurate financial records and manage budgets to ensure efficient use of resources.
Requirements
- Agricultural Diploma/Degree
- At least 3 years’ experience in Avocado and Macadamia farming
- Technical/production experience
- HACCP/BRC/SIZA background, advantageous
- Strong management and leadership qualities
- Computer literate
- Strong admin and record keeping skills
- Good problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal relationships
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and external stakeholders
- Energetic and hands-on hardworking individual
- Ability to take ownership and come up with new ideas
- Proactive and independent worker
