This role involves overseeing the general ledger, executing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with IFRS standards. The ideal candidate will have solid analytical skills, experience in tax and statutory compliance, and a strong understanding of corporate governance. Experience managing financial activities across multiple jurisdictions is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all accounting practices align with IFRS standards and internal policies.

• Manage intercompany transactions and ensure compliance with transfer pricing policies.

• Work closely with regional accounting and tax service providers to guarantee timely and accurate statutory filings.

• Reconcile balance sheets monthly and provide detailed analyses.

• Identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen internal controls.

• Support tax audits and assist with preparation of tax returns where required.

• Handle quarterly tax effect accounting.

• Contribute to year-end audit preparations and resolve audit queries efficiently.

• Investigate account discrepancies and address non-compliance issues.

• Prepare detailed financial reports and analyses.

• Maintain accuracy and completeness of the general ledger.

• Provide ad hoc financial support to senior management as needed.

• Collaborate with administration officers and regional operations teams across multiple regions.

• Mentor and guide junior finance team members.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar accounting role, ideally within mid-sized companies.

• Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related field.

• Professional accounting qualification preferred (e.g., SAICA, SAIPA, ACCA, CIMA, SAIBA).

• Solid experience with general ledger management and month-end/year-end close processes.

• Deep understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

• Exposure to multi-jurisdictional financial operations is advantageous.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP is a plus.
