A leading importer and distributor in the plumbing products industry is looking for an ambitious and hands-on General Manager with strong experience in stock management, warehouse operations, and performance management to join their team in Montagu Gardens. This is a growth-oriented role where the successful candidate will work closely with the business owner, managing day-to-day operations while building a long-term career with the company.

Responsibilities:

• Act as a trusted operational partner to the business owner, ensuring the effective execution of business objectives.

• Oversee distribution and warehouse operations, ensuring efficient stock management, accurate reporting, and smooth supply chain processes.

• Manage the showroom retail environment to deliver excellent customer service and achieve sales targets.

• Supervise the service and repairs division, ensuring quality control, turnaround times, and customer satisfaction.

• Support customer and supplier relationship management, including negotiations and resolving issues.

• Apply financial discipline by monitoring budgets, margins, debtor days, and working capital.

• Lead and motivate a team of 20 employees across multiple business areas, driving accountability and performance.

• Identify operational inefficiencies and implement process improvements.

• Provide regular reporting and insights on key metrics, risks, and opportunities.

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Commerce, Management, Logistics, or a related field (essential).

• Relevant experience in import, distribution, retail, or service/repairs operations.

• Strong stock management and warehouse operations knowledge.

• Proven maturity, reliability, and ability to handle challenging conversations.

• Sound financial acumen with experience analysing margins, costs, and working capital.

• Hands-on and pragmatic leadership style with team management experience preferred.

• Demonstrated potential to grow into senior leadership responsibilities.
