• Financial Reporting:
  Prepare, review and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and board packs.
• Financial Modelling:
  Design, build, and maintain complex financial models for forecasting, scenario analysis, valuations, and strategic decision-making.
• Budgeting & Forecasting:
  Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring accuracy, alignment with business strategy, and clear variance analysis.
• Business Partnering:
  Collaborate with operations, development, and executive teams to provide financial insights that drive performance and profitability.
• Performance Analysis:
  Analyse key financial and operational metrics (e.g. revenue, costs, ROI, capex) to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Process & Systems Improvement:
  Streamline financial reporting processes and improve modelling accuracy through automation and best practices.
• Compliance & Controls:
  Ensure financial compliance with IFRS, tax, audit, and regulatory standards, and maintain strong internal controls.
• Stakeholder Reporting:
  Support investor, board, and executive reporting needs with insightful, decision-ready financial presentations.

Job Experience and Skills Required:

• CA(SA)
• 7 to 8 years Post Articles
• 5 years relevant of property experience

Key Responsibilities:
– Oversee the monthly financial close process, ensuring accurate reporting across underwriting, claims, and premium-related accounts.
– Manage cash flow and investment portfolios, authorising payments, premium collections, and ensuring adequate liquidity for operational and claims requirements.
– Prepare, review, and submit regulatory and statutory returns to the FSCA, Prudential Authority, Reserve Bank, and SARS.
– Compile annual financial statements in line with IFRS and insurance industry standards, and liaise with internal and external auditors during audit cycles.
– Ensure accuracy of control accounts, technical reserves, and balance sheet reconciliations.
– Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support business decisions and regional performance reviews.
– Drive improvements in financial systems, controls, and reporting processes to enhance accuracy and compliance.

Non-Negotiables:
– Strong technical accounting knowledge with practical IFRS experience.
– Proven experience managing full financial reporting within a regulated environment.
– Hands-on experience with VAT, Income Tax, and FSCA/Prudential reporting.
– Proficient in cash flow and investment management.
– Demonstrated success in implementing or improving financial processes and controls.

Skills & Competencies:
– Deep understanding of short-term insurance operations and financial cycles.
– Strong analytical and numerical ability with advanced Excel proficiency.
– Confident communicator able to collaborate across finance, underwriting, and compliance teams.
– Deadline-driven with excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
– Proactive leader who can balance technical rigour with strategic insight.
