Somerset West: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description: The successful candidate will play a critical role in overseeing the design, fabrication, and installation of our engineering projects. This role requires a hands-on approach and a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles. Key Responsibilities Design and Engineering: Develop detailed mechanical designs and specifications for macadamia processing equipment and facilities. Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analysis to validate design choices. Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations. Collaborate with the design team to create detailed drawings and documentation for manufacturing and installation. Proven Experience with the following is necessary: Sheet Metal Design Structural Design General Factory/Plant Layout Drawings Proven Experience within the following would be advantageous: Machine Design Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Fabrication Oversight: Oversee the fabrication process, ensuring that all components meet design specifications and quality standards. Work closely with the manufacturing team to address any technical challenges that arise during fabrication. Inspect and approve finished products before they are delivered to the installation site. Site Installation and Commissioning: Collaborate with installation teams to manage on-site installation activities, ensuring that all mechanical systems are installed correctly and safely. Coordinate with site installers to troubleshoot any issues that arise during installation. Conduct commissioning activities to verify the performance of installed systems and ensure they meet project requirements. Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A minimum of 3 years experience in mechanical engineering. Proven experience in the design and installation of industrial equipment or processing facilities. Strong knowledge of mechanical design software: Primary Software: SolidWorks Secondary Software: AutoCAD Strong problem-solving abilities and a hands-on approach to engineering challenges. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Willingness to travel to Local and International project sites as needed. Preferred Qualifications & Experience: Experience in the food processing or agricultural industry, particularly in macadamia processing. Knowledge of fabrication processes and materials. Experience with project management software such as ClickUp, MS Project, or similar. SolidWorks
