Job Description
A well-established organisation within the construction sector, based in Pretoria, is currently seeking a driven and detail-oriented Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a project-driven environment where financial accuracy, cost control, and operational support play a critical role in delivering successful outcomes.
Duties:
- Full function general ledger management across multiple accounts and projects
- Preparation, analysis, and completion of monthly management accounts
- Month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and journals
- General ledger reconciliations and detailed balance sheet reconciliations
- Processing, reviewing, and posting of journal entries with accuracy and control
- Preparation of financial reports for internal stakeholders and management
- Assistance with external audit preparation and supporting documentation
- Reconciliation and monitoring of key balance sheet accounts (including creditors, debtors, and project-related accounts)
- Support with construction/project costing and financial tracking
- Ensuring compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and company policies
- Identifying and resolving variances and discrepancies in financial data
Qualifications & Skills:
- BCom Accounting (required)
- Completed SAIPA/SAICA articles (required)
- 1–3 years post-articles experience advantageous
- Strong experience with GL reconciliations and month-end processes
- Exposure to construction, property, or project-based environments beneficial
- Strong Excel skills (advanced level advantageous)
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict reporting deadlines
