About the Role

She recruit is seeking an experienced and seasoned Country General Manager – Automotive Retail (East Africa) to lead our client’s automotive retail operations in-country. As a strategic leader, you will be responsible for providing overall leadership and direction, driving sustainable growth, profitability, and market share.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and direction for my client’s automotive retail operations in-country
• Develop and execute medium- to long-term strategies to drive sustainable growth, profitability and market share
• Build, lead, and retain high-performing management teams while fostering a strong performance-driven culture
• Establish and strengthen relationships with OEMs, suppliers, regulators, and key commercial partners
• Ensure strong financial management, including full P&L ownership, budgeting, forecasting and cost control
• Maintain compliance with local legislation, OEM standards and internal governance frameworks
• Monitor market dynamics, customer behaviour and competitive activity to identify growth opportunities
• Report to executive leadership with clear insights, forecasts, risks and strategic recommendations

Requirements

• 6–10 years’ senior leadership experience within automotive retail (e.g. General Manager, Regional Manager, Country Manager)
• Proven ability to lead multi-department automotive operations in competitive environments
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with hands-on P&L accountability
• Experience working in emerging markets or across Africa is highly advantageous
• A confident, steady leadership style with the ability to manage cross-cultural teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline
• MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification preferred
