Strong Namibian HR/IR Knowledge
10-15 years’ experience working in an SMPP Fabrication Workshop
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a SMPP Fabrication Workshop Supervisor
Heavy fabrication, welding process and piping knowledge
Boilermaking, Pipe Fitting, Welding process and distortion control, Safe working practices. People management/supervising.
Red Seal Boilermaker
Knowledge of AWS D1.1 ASME/DNV
MS Office packages
Afrikaans and English

Responsibilities
- To lead, plan, train and review the work of workshop personnel
- To give proper instructions and guidance to workshop personnel as and when required
- To resolve work problems and recommend work measures to improve productivity, efficiency and utilization
- To report pending jobs with reasons for pending and actions taken
- Complies with the Namibian OHS ACT 85 of 1993 and all relevant health, safety, environmental, quality, legal and regulatory requirements as stipulated by company requirements
- Estimate the time to be allocated to specific jobs and monitor this accordingly.
- Resource planning, requirement and allocation of workshop personnel.
- Overtime proposal to Project Engineers and Managers for approval.
Duties
- Allocation of Pipe Fitters, Welders, Mechanical Fitters, Semi Skills & Other Team members to tasks.
- Workshop Supervisor / Foreman checks the job allocations list received from HR and informs HR of any corrections whereafter they sign next to it on the spreadsheet and hands it back to HR.
- Monitor the presence of all the workshop personnel and assist the Project Engineers and Managers in the preparation of production activities.
- Monitor Production & Welder progress, Maintain Quality, and productivity of Team members.
- Resolve fabrication issues and recommend work measures to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Trouble Shoot defects in conjunction with Quality and other team members, and report on possible causes and solutions to Management Identify and communicate fabrication problems effectively.
- Assign tasks and targets to personnel in the workshop in close coordination with the Project Engineers and Managers. (Subject to the workload, project requirements and company requirements).
- Knows the capabilities of employees and allocating the appropriate staff to perform tasks
- Knows the capabilities of machinery and use appropriately to perform tasks effectively
- Effectively deals with poor performers
- Establish a work plan to distribute the workload and complete tasks within the time constraints
- Give proper instructions to workshop personnel
- Resolves disagreements amongst employees quickly and fairly
- Make recommendations for equipment upgrades, improvements and optimizing.
- Advise Management of training requirements and skills levels of workshop /welding personnel.
- Assist with the assessment, mentoring, training, counselling and motivation of workshop personnel.
- Familiarize yourself and be proficient on all the present production procedures, equipment and possible future procedures and techniques.
- Ensure that personnel are informed on the technical, quality and safety requirements for the activities that they have been tasked to perform.
- Supervise the servicing, maintenance and repair of workshop as instructed.
- Responsible to familiarize yourself and promote and enforce as far as possible the company Disciplinary Code and Conduct, quality, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Ensure daily housekeeping is performed by team members, in and outside of the workshop.
- Ensure all personnel/team member has the correct consumables/equipment to perform all tasks adequately.
- Provide hands on guidance/training to workshop personnel
