Job Description
- A minimum of 3–5 years’ experience managing all aspects of macadamia farming, including harvesting, irrigation, nutrition, chemical programs, and machinery.
- Experience in leading and managing small to medium-sized teams.
- Knowledge of sustainable farming practices and innovative agronomy techniques, specifically Integrated Pest Management within macadamia farming.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) for producing plans, reports, and schedules.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate and execute all aspects of macadamia farm operations within specific timeframes, including:
- Land maintenance and development
- Chemical and nutrition programs
- Pest scouting and management
- Irrigation
- Pruning
- Harvesting, curing, and post-harvest crop handling
- Large-scale commercial compost production
- Coordinate and execute all aspects of row and cereal cropping operations, including:
- Land rectification and preparation
- Planting, spraying, and fertilizing
- Pest scouting and management
- Irrigation
- Harvesting of crops
- Continuously monitor and evaluate the efficiency of farm operations, equipment, and work practices, providing ongoing suggestions for improvement.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to team members.
- Manage all operational activities and ensure staff productivity at all times.
- Liaise and collaborate with consultants and specialists on orchard and crop management, people management, and health and safety.
- Develop and implement farm management plans, including budgeting, resource allocation, and maintenance schedules.
- Stay updated on industry trends and technologies, incorporating innovative practices into farm operations.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
