Pretoria: Fitter & Turner (Industrial, Manufacturing, Heavy Engineering)

Job Purpose: To fabricate, assemble, maintain, and repair mechanical components and machinery with precision, ensuring operational reliability, safety, and efficiency. The role involves machining, fitting, turning, and general mechanical maintenance. Fabrication & Machining Set up and operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, and other machine tools. Manufacture, modify, and repair machine components according to engineering drawings and specifications. Perform precision turning, threading, boring, and cutting of metals and alloys. Maintain accurate measurements using calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Mechanical Assembly & Maintenance Troubleshoot mechanical faults and implement corrective actions. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Suggest improvements for machining, fabrication, and maintenance processe Key Responsibilities: Operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, and related machine tools Manufacture, repair, and modify mechanical components to spec Assemble, install, align, and maintain machinery and mechanical systems Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints Perform fault-finding, repairs, and preventative maintenance Ensure all work meets quality standards and OHS requirements Support continuous improvement and mentor junior staff where needed Qualifications and Experience:: Trade Test: Fitter & Turner (Red Seal preferred) N3/N4 Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) 2 to 5 years experience in industrial/manufacturing/heavy engineering Strong machining, fitting, and mechanical troubleshooting skills Precision Engineering Safety-first mindset and attention to detail
