Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician (Technology) to join our team in Kya Sands. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our technology equipment and machinery. With a salary of R130 per hour, this is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated individual with strong technical skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attending to all breakdowns during or outside of normal working hours, e.g. call outs
  • Ensure adherence to the OHSACT and company policies and procedures
  • Hands on practical approach
  • Inspect all machinery, equipment and buildings of the facility as per set records/plans
  • Maintaining a record of all the maintenance work that has been conducted on the machinery
  • Maximise machine efficiencies to the required/set targets
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced and stressful environment, with minimal supervision.
  • Overseeing tool changes, ensuring all tooling and equipment is properly maintained and available prior to tool changes
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on machinery and equipment
  • Reduce machine breakdown times
  • Refurbishment of machinery when required
  • Required to work overtime as and when required
  • Required to work weekly standby
  • Strong mechanical and electrical problem solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of control systems and machine operation with hands-on experience.
  • To ensure that all duties and tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and at no time is the employee or their co-workers placed in an unsafe condition
  • Complete any other duty or tasks assigned by Plant Manager.

Requirements

  • Qualified Maintenance Electrician and/or Maintenance Millwright with minimum 10 years practical experience.
  • AC and DC drive experience (OMROM, Siemens)
  • Basic PLC and electronic experience
  • In procession of a valid driver’s licence – LDV
  • Excellent communication skills, proficient in the English Language Written and Oral – must be able to legibly read and write reports.

No formal education or certifications are required for this role. However, relevant qualifications and experience will be considered.
