About the Role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking Frontshop Assistants for their new store in Blueberry Square to provide excellent customer service and maintain high merchandising standards. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting customers at point of sales, restocking shelves, and processing transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure full ranges of products are on the shelves at all times and neatly presented.
- Maintain stock levels to ensure products have not reached their sell-by date and restock as needed.
- Follow up on all out-of-stock queries from customers in line with our customer service out-of-stock list.
- Store and pack delivered stock and/or stock pulled from the storeroom in the correct space.
- Ensure merchandise displays, labels, and pricing are correct at all times and report any discrepancies to management.
- Keep the storeroom organized, neat, and tidy.
- Stay up-to-date with new product knowledge to effectively assist customers.
- Assist with restocking of merchandise and supplies as needed to maximize sales.
- Participate in back shopping when required.
- Handle merchandise carefully to prevent losses.
- Process all purchases received, verify and process payments such as cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and other acceptable payments.
- Exchange merchandise for customers and accept returned goods when authorized by the Frontshop Leader.
- Process loyalty cards, including those of accelerated partners.
- Ensure cash is placed in the drop safe according to standard operating procedures.
- Approve and sign line voids and price changes as required by a Frontshop Leader or Retail Store Assistant.
- Maintain accurate cash flow at all times.
- Facilitate rotation of stock on a regular basis and adhere to Dis-Chem stock control procedures.
- Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management.
- Assist with counting of stock files and general stocktaking.
- Identify and report damaged and expired stock immediately to management.
- Participate in loading and off-loading of stock when needed.
- Flatten boxes after unpacking stock and take them to the designated area.
- Establish a professional relationship with customers and provide friendly, helpful, courteous assistance and advice.
- Report customer compliments and complaints to management.
- Adhere to the customer turnover per hour rate as per company benchmark.
- Assist with training of new and current team members.
- Ensure outgoing stock/items/scripts are scanned and paid for.
- Keep daily takings (cash, cheques, vouchers, card slips, line voids, and incomplete dockets) inside the till drawer until they are placed in the drop safe.
- Report bad and suspicious behavior for both staff and customers to management.
- Maintain housekeeping according to Dis-Chem standards.
- Adhere to Dis-Chem Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
- Adhere to the Dis-Chem uniform and personal appearance policy.
Requirements
Knowledge of retail operations and administration, ability to find solutions to potential issues, and knowing when to escalate problems to the correct level. Comprehension of fundamental arithmetic skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to convey ideas and facts verbally using language effectively. Recognizing the need for procedures and following relevant ones.
