About the Role

The Financial Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, reporting, and compliance within an operational business unit. This includes reviewing and presenting monthly management accounts, financial analysis, and performance reports to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and present monthly management accounts, financial analysis, and performance reports to senior leadership
  • Drive cost control through budget vs actual analysis, COS reviews, and identification of efficiency and savings opportunities
  • Oversee tax compliance including VAT, payroll taxes, and annual income tax calculations
  • Manage treasury and cash controls, including payment approvals, cash-flow forecasting, reconciliations, and float controls
  • Oversee procurement activities, stock controls, and supplier management to ensure value, compliance, and accuracy
  • Lead monthly stock counts, spot checks, and monitoring of slow-moving or expired stock
  • Ensure accurate payroll inputs, review payroll reports, and manage labour costs against approved structures
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and ensure proper safeguarding, project controls, and asset verification
  • Monitor accounts receivable, debtor ageing, and operational accounts, escalating risks where required
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and rolling estimates, supporting financial planning and performance tracking
  • Coordinate external audits and support the preparation of annual financial statements

Requirements

  • Minimum 35 years experience in a Financial Manager or senior finance role within an operational environment
  • Strong financial and management accounting experience, including reporting, budgeting, and audit support
  • Proven experience in cost control, stock management, procurement oversight, and cash management
  • Solid understanding of tax compliance and statutory financial requirements
  • Experience working closely with operational teams in a service-driven business
