Job Description

Job Specification Responsible for ensuring that all laboratory processes, procedures, and results meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements This role involves overseeing quality control and assurance programs, implementing best practices for microbiological testing, and maintaining compliance with relevant guidelines and standards (such as ISO 17025) The Quality Manager also provides training and support to laboratory staff, conducts internal audits, and collaborates with other departments to drive continuous improvement in laboratory operations Knowledge and Skills In-depth knowledge of microbiology, including organisms of interest, growth conditions, and testing methods. Understanding of microbiological safety protocols and laboratory hygiene Quality Assurance and Control Knowledge of quality management systems (QMS) including ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and other relevant standards Familiarity with validation protocols and compliance requirements for laboratory practices Regulatory Compliance Deep understanding of regulatory requirements, audits and inspections processes Data Management and Statistical Analysis: Proficiency in statistical methodologies for data interpretation and quality control Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data analysis software Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills Ability to conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective and preventive action plans. Strong troubleshooting skills in laboratory processes and methodologies Leadership and Communication Strong leadership qualities to effectively manage teams and influence a culture of quality Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for reporting findings and training staff Training and Development Skills in designing and implementing training programs related to quality standards and laboratory best practices. Ability to assess training needs and enhance staff competencies Quality Management Proficient in developing, implementing, and maintaining a robust quality management system Ability to perform regular audits, assessments, and inspections to ensure compliance Project Management Competency in planning, executing, and managing quality-related projects effectively Skilled in resource allocation, timeline management, and budget oversight Process Improvement Expertise in methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality enhancement Skill in initiating and leading process changes to optimise laboratory performance Risk Management Competence in identifying potential risks associated with laboratory practices and implementing risk mitigation strategies Ability to conduct risk assessments to ensure laboratory safety and compliance Interpersonal Skills Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with team members, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies Competency in conflict resolution and providing constructive feedback Documentation and Record Keeping Proficient in managing documentation related to quality standards, laboratory protocols, and compliance records Strong grasp of the importance of accurate record-keeping for audit readiness Technical Proficiency Familiarity with modern laboratory equipment and technologies used in microbiological testing Ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to laboratory processes and instrumentation Minimum Requirements Bsc Microbiology, Biotechnology or Food Science Certificate in ISO 17025 and/or laboratory accreditations standards Food safety legislature, Dairy specific specification Auditing principles 5 years in relevant Experience Kindly note that by submitting your application for this career opportunity you agree that Guardian Recruiting may use your application for the purpose of the recruitment and selection of the said position and thisinformation may be shared with the relevant stakeholders in the business.
