About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Administrator to join our team in Howick, responsible for managing day-to-day HR and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in administration, accounting, and labour law.
Key Responsibilities
- Handling accounts payable/receivable, invoicing, petty cash, debtors and creditors, recons, journals and preparing records for accountants
- Proficiency in Sage Pastel software
- Assisting with payroll administration and ensuring compliance with SARS requirements
- Maintaining employee files, drafting employment contracts, and conducting onboarding processes
- Interfacing with staff, conducting hearings where applicable, and negotiating with unions (supported by senior management)
- Conducting risk assessments, maintaining incident logs, and ensuring PPE availability as the designated H&S representative
- Acting as a liaison between staff and management to ensure compliance with labour laws
Requirements
- Basic to intermediate financial competency
- Proficiency in Sage Pastel software
- HR administration experience
- Labour Law knowledge (Basic Conditions of Employment Act and Labour Relations Act)
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) 85 of 1993
- Ability to work independently and manage day-to-day compliance
