About the Role
We are seeking a Senior COBOL Developer to join our team on a 12-month contract basis. As a critical member of our domestic payments environment, you will be responsible for ensuring system stability, resolving incidents, and enhancing core banking and payment systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Support, maintain, and enhance core banking and payment systems
- Investigate, diagnose, and resolve production incidents in a high-pressure environment
- Perform batch and online processing support and enhancements
- Participate in smaller development tasks and system improvements
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical and business teams
- Contribute to system stability, efficiency, and modernisation initiatives
- Participate in standby and operational support rotations
Requirements
- Education: Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Experience: 7 years COBOL development experience
- Strong banking sector experience (mandatory)
- Extensive experience with COBOL, JCL, and DB2
- Strong experience with batch and online processing environments
- Experience with General Ledger processes and Payments systems
- Data archiving exposure (e.g. Hadoop, AWS Athena or similar)
- Experience working in high-availability, business-critical systems
