About the Role
The Assistant Lodge Manager plays a key leadership role in supporting the General Manager and Lodge Manager with the day-to-day operations of the lodge, ensuring the delivery of a consistently exceptional guest experience that reflects the lodge’s luxury standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the General Manager and Lodge Manager in overseeing daily lodge operations to ensure smooth, efficient service delivery across all departments.
- Deliver and maintain an exceptional, personalised guest experience aligned with luxury standards.
- Personally welcome guests, engage with them daily, manage special requests, and resolve feedback or complaints professionally.
- Build strong guest relationships to encourage repeat visits and long-term loyalty.
- Coordinate operations between housekeeping, maintenance, food and beverage, and guiding teams.
- Ensure all guest areas, facilities, and public spaces consistently meet five-star standards.
- Monitor inventory levels and support procurement processes.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate Front-of-House staff while fostering a professional and respectful work environment.
- Conduct performance reviews, support ongoing training, and assist with HR processes when required.
- Oversee food and beverage service standards during all meal periods, ensuring quality, presentation, and dietary requirements are met.
- Conduct daily service briefings and debriefings to maintain consistency and excellence.
- Carry out daily lodge inspections and ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Support sustainability and eco-friendly practices within lodge operations.
Requirements
- At least 4 years in a Management Level position at a 4/5* Safari lodge property
Qualifications
- Relevant Qualification in Hospitality or similar would be very beneficial (if applicable)
Salary & Benefits
- Salary: R22 000 – R27 000 CTC D.O.E
