About the Role

West Rand Engineering is seeking an experienced Sales Representative to drive sustainable growth in the hard-rock underground mining sector, with a focus on PGMs in Rustenburg. The successful candidate will build long-term customer relationships through professional sales skills, technical product knowledge, and exceptional service. Regular travel and face-to-face engagement with mining clients are essential to ensure customer satisfaction, repeat business, and market expansion across South Africa and into Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with mining houses, contractors, and engineering teams through face-to-face engagement and technical support.
• Drive business growth by identifying new customers, products, and markets.
• Execute proactive sales activities (cold calling, lead follow-up, product demonstrations) to achieve monthly and annual sales targets.
• Provide technical advice and after-sales support, addressing customer complaints related to surface and underground mining applications.
• Monitor and report on market intelligence, competitor activity, and sales trends to inform company strategy and assure growth.
• Manage the full sales cycle: quotations, order tracking, stock availability updates, and customer communication.
• Prepare accurate monthly sales reports and participate in sales meetings, trade shows, and exhibitions as required.
• Conduct customer surveys to measure satisfaction and identify improvement opportunities.

Requirements

• Matric (Grade 12) required.
• Business, Marketing or Technical qualification an advantage.
• Demonstrated success in selling to hard-rock underground mining operations (PGMs).
• Technical knowledge of underground mining consumables i.e valves, snatchblocks, mining hose, etc. an advantage.
• Minimum 5 years proven sales experience in mining, industrial, or engineering environments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; ability to prepare reports, presentations, and forecasts; familiarity with CRM/ERP systems for sales tracking.
• Valid drivers license and willingness to travel frequently from Rustenburg and surrounding mining areas.
