Position Overview:
The successful candidate will be responsible collecting, analysing and interpreting complex healthcare data to support clinical, operational and strategic decision-making. The role requires strong technical expertise in SQL, data visualisation tools such as Power BI (or similar) and knowledge of clinical coding standards.
Essential Job Functions:
- Extract, manipulate and analyse large datasets using SQL to support business and clinical requirements.
- Analyse complex datasets to identify trends, patterns and insights.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI (or equivalent data visualisation tools) to support decision-making.
- Ensure accuracy, integrity and consistency of clinical and operational data through validation and quality checks.
- Interpret and apply clinical coding standards (ICD, CPT, SNOMED or similar) in data analysis and reporting.
- Identify trends, anomalies and insights to inform clinical and business decisions.
- Collaborate with clinically qualified parties and business teams to define reporting needs, provide actionable insights and translate them into data solutions.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy and regulatory standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of data processes, systems and analytical methodologies.
- Support strategic initiatives with data-driven insights.
Skills and Functional Requirements:
- Advanced SQL programming (queries, stored procedures, optimisation).
- Data visualisation using Power BI (preferred) or equivalent (Tableau, Qlik, Looker).
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and data manipulation techniques.
- Sound knowledge of clinical coding systems (ICD-10, CPT, SNOMED CT, DRG).
- Familiarity with relational databases and data warehousing concepts.
- Understanding of healthcare informatics and clinical workflows.
- Statistical analysis knowledge (R, Python, or SAS advantageous).
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree in Data Science, Health Informatics, Statistics, Computer Science or related field.
- Relevant post-graduate degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in clinical – and/or healthcare data analysis.
- Strong SQL skills with proven ability to query, manipulate and manage complex datasets.
- Proficiency in Power BI (or similar visualisation/BI tools such as Tableau, Qlik).
- Solid understanding of clinical coding standards and terminologies (ICD-10, CPT, SNOMED, or equivalent).
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to translate technical data insights into business/clinical language.
- Experience working in a healthcare, clinical research or medical data environment.
