Job Description

This position is within a well-established manufacturing firm in the textile and retail bag sector based in Westmead, KZN. The company operates a high-output production facility focused on delivering quality products to the retail market. The Millwright/Maintenance Technician is responsible for the continuous operation of the plant by installing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of machinery, equipment, and physical structures. This role requires a blend of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting to ensure minimal downtime in the production process. Key Responsibilities Install, repair, and maintain machinery and equipment used throughout the production process. Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure all machines function correctly. Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues. Manage and follow up on all logged plant breakdowns with meticulous planning. Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to determine necessary repair procedures. Assemble, install, and proficiently learn the operation of new machinery. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent qualification. A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Millwright within a manufacturing setting. Strong dual-trade skills in both mechanical and electrical disciplines. Proven ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and schematics. Thorough familiarity with OSHA regulations and safe work practices. Willingness to work alternating day and night shifts (07h00-17h00 and 18h00-06h00). Attributes Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently. Reliable professional with high integrity and a strong work ethic. Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines. A collaborative team player with a professional appearance and attitude.
