About the Role

The Assistant Resident Engineer role in Cape Town City Centre requires an experienced professional to support the day-to-day operations of a construction site, ensuring compliance with drawings and specifications, while maintaining high standards of safety and environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily site supervision and contract administration
  • Monitor construction quality and compliance with drawings and specs
  • Conduct site inspections and prepare progress and quality reports
  • Support the RE with managing contractor queries and documentation
  • Attend site meetings and assist with project coordination
  • Ensure adherence to safety and environmental requirements

Requirements

  • Minimum 25 years construction supervision experience
  • Exposure to roads, pipelines, or municipal infrastructure (advantageous)
  • Strong reporting, inspection, and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced site environment

Qualifications

  • BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering
  • ECSA registration (Candidate or Professional) beneficial
