About the Role
Our client, a leading Freight Forwarding Company, is seeking a Junior Legal Counsel to join their team in Johannesburg (JNB) or Cape Town (CPT). The ideal candidate will provide general legal support to the business units and departments, with a focus on commercial contracts and corporate documents.
Key Responsibilities
- Deal with general day-to-day operational legal enquiries from the business units/departments
- Assist in reviewing, drafting, advising, and negotiating on a diverse range of commercial contracts
- Assist in drafting and reviewing corporate documents, including board/shareholders meeting minutes/resolutions, POAs, MOAs, licenses, etc.
- Undertake general corporate work (such as registration and liquidation of companies, share transfers, etc.)
- Maintain up-to-date corporate documents of the entities he/she oversees
- Deal with and advise on legal, employment, regulatory, and commercial matters
- Coordinate with external lawyers in obtaining legal opinions
- Conducting legal research and analysis
- Handle dispute resolution and litigation management, and oversee the work of external counsel as necessary
- Identify, analyze, and assess legal/contractual risk in connection with business transactions
Requirements
- 2-3 years PQE or relevant legal experience
- Bachelor of Law degree from a reputable university with articles completed
- Ideally 2 years post-articles experience in a law firm or corporate environment or just finished articles
Qualifications
- BEE Female is required for the role, due to BEE compliance
