Job Description

Our client is a leading Social Impact and Accredited Training Provider in South Africa. They specialize in bridging the gap between the private and public sectors to drive economic advancement and meaningful community impact. As a multi-SETA and QCTO-accredited entity, they design and deliver high-level education, training, and consulting services focused on national development challenges. We are seeking a Head of Business Development to spearhead their growth strategy. This is a high-influence leadership role designed for a strategic “architect” who understands the complexities of the South African regulatory landscape and can translate social impact into sustainable revenue. The Role: Purpose & Impact The Head of Business Development will be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies to drive growth, expand market share, and build a high-performing team. You will foster strategic partnerships with corporates, government bodies, and funders to ensure revenue targets are achieved while remaining aligned with a vision of national economic transformation. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a BD strategy aligned with the organization’s vision and market positioning. Market Intelligence: Analyze trends, competitor activities, and customer behaviors to maintain a competitive edge. Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a business development team; setting and monitoring performance targets to ensure excellence. Revenue Generation: Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline, identifying and securing high-value contracts and funding opportunities. Commercial Strategy: Develop pricing strategies and sales incentives to maximize profitability while meeting client expectations. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with internal departments to inform product development and service positioning based on market insights. Stakeholder Engagement: Manage high-level relationships across the private sector, government, and industry bodies. Critical Requirements To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of the South African business and education ecosystem. Experience: 5 years in a Senior Leadership role within Business Development and Sales Management. Track Record: Proven success in securing large-scale contracts, corporate partnerships, and funding within South Africa. Regulatory Knowledge: Deep expertise in the South African landscape, including B-BBEE codes, SAQA, QCTO, and SETAs. Niche Expertise: Knowledge of education/training funding streams and Mining Social Labour Plans (SLPs) is highly advantageous. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. Skills: Strong analytical ability, complex proposal development, and the capacity to inspire a team toward ambitious targets. Why Join This Organization?
