About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Business Unit Accountant to join our manufacturing industry team in Durban. The successful candidate will provide financial management and reporting support to management, ensuring accurate financial analysis and preparation of reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide financial analysis and support to management
- Prepare financial reports, budgets, and forecasts
- Analyse variances (actual vs budget) and recommend actions
- Maintain ERP system (BPCS)
- General Ledger & Month-End
- Prepare journals, accruals, and provisions
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations
- Compile weekly sales and flash reports
- Costing & Financial Analysis
- Product costing and margin analysis
- Investigate purchase price variances (PPV)
- Identify cost-saving and improvement opportunities
- Cash Flow & Working Capital
- Monitor daily cash flow and cash positions
- Manage working capital and ensure liquidity
- CAPEX & Fixed Assets
- Manage CAPEX process (ROI, approvals, tracking)
- Maintain fixed asset register
- Monitor CAPEX spend vs budget
- Audit & Compliance
- Prepare for internal and external audits
- Ensure compliance with VAT and statutory requirements
- Submit tax returns (VAT, PAYE, UIF, WCA)
- Stock & Debtors/Creditors
- Oversee stock control and stock takes
- Review debtor age analysis and ensure collections
- Manage creditors reconciliations and payments
Requirements
- Grade 12
- BCom / Diploma in Financial Accounting or similar
- Minimum 2 years in finance/accounting role
