About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Trails Guide to take ownership of guided walking safaris within a remote Big 5 environment in Hluhluwe, Kwa-Zulu Natal. As a senior Guide, you will operate with significant autonomy while leading Trails in a conservation-driven eco-tourism setting, contributing to the broader Safari and Conservation objectives of our lodge.
Key Responsibilities
- Make informed decisions on guest safety, trail routes, and daily guiding operations
- Work independently with significant autonomy
- Lead guided walking safaris within a remote Big 5 environment
- Contribute to the broader Safari and Conservation objectives of the lodge
- Mentor junior guides while managing trails-related operations autonomously
- Provide exceptional guest communication and professional conduct as a senior Guide
Requirements
- Valid South African Lead Trails Guide qualification (FGASA / CATHSSETA compliant)
- Current First Aid Level 2 certification (minimum)
- Advanced Rifle Handling (ARH) certification
- Proven experience independently leading Safari walking trails in Big 5 areas
- Strong authority and confidence to make autonomous, safety-based decisions on Trails
- Excellent knowledge of ecology, wildlife behaviour, and Conservation ethics
