About the Role

We are seeking a versatile and guest-centric FIELD GUIDE to join the luxury safari lodge team in Manyoni Game Reserve in KZN. This is a unique “hybrid” role designed for a professional who excels in the field but is also ready to step into leadership. You will be responsible for delivering world-class, immersive safari experiences while providing critical operational oversight as a Relief Lodge Manager during management leave periods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct twice-daily game drives and guided walks tailored to high-end international and local guests.
  • Provide expert interpretation of the Big 5, diverse ecosystems, and over 400 bird species.
  • Offer specialized insight into rare and endangered species, including Black Rhino, Cheetah, and Pangolin.
  • Act as a primary host during meals and lodge activities, maintaining a sophisticated and welcoming luxury atmosphere.
  • Take full responsibility for day-to-day operations and staff coordination during management leave cycles.
  • Supervise housekeeping, maintenance, and guiding teams to ensure seamless service.
  • Manage guest queries, special requests, and service recovery with a calm, professional leadership presence.
  • Assist with basic administration, stock control, and operational reporting.

Requirements

  • Minimum 35 years in a luxury safari lodge environment.
  • FGASA Level 2 (NQF 4) DEAT / NDT Registration Advanced Rifle Handling (ARH).
  • Valid First Aid Certificate & PDP License.
  • Strong birding knowledge, exceptional storytelling abilities, and proven off-road driving experience.
