About the Role
Phakisa Holdings is seeking a skilled and experienced Pallet Controller to join our team in Bloemfontein. As a key member of our logistics operations, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate processing, reporting, and reconciliation of pallet movements. You will work closely with our customers, CHEP, and logistics teams to improve financial control, customer experience, and operational compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Reconcile backlogs that increase delaying month-end close
- Manage financial exposure through unresolved balances, unprocessed transactions, and rejected movements
- Improve customer experience, financial control, and operation compliance
- Resolve customer escalations due to delay query resolution and reporting
- Mitigate compliance and audit risks by addressing filing documentation and data integrity gaps
- Ensure timely daily processing, weekly reporting, and month reconciliation
- Reconcile pallet account and CHEP issues with movement
- Capture THAN’s and PCN’s via my CHEP and issue transactions via SAP
- Manage suspended and rejected movements and initiate corrective action
- Log all activities directly with CHEP
- Log escalations to the business where required
- Resolve general queries, including Pallet Movement Authorization, Transfer Hire Agreements, Loss investigations, and Logging collection and return orders when required
- Monitor EDI data integrity (where applicable)
- Support yard operations
- Conduct pallet quality inspections
- Report non-compliance or damages immediately
- Maintain accurate and compliance filing of all pallet documentation
- Liaise with problem customers to recover outstanding balances
- Communicate extended holding periods or excessive volumes to relevant internal stakeholders
- Provide electronic system support
- Maintain strong working relationships with customer stakeholders and operations teams
- Work closely with CHEP and logistics/operations teams
- Ensure issues are captured accurately and timeously
- Align on corrective actions and priorities
- Escalate ongoing or critical non-compliance matters to management
- Conduct stock counts and reconciliation, including offside locations
- Review and closure of outstanding queries and balance investigations
- Validate system data integrity across SAP, myCHEP, and EDI
- Identify long-standing balances and implement recovery actions documented
- Review pallet holding pattern and volume variances
- Ensure all documentation is complete, filed, and audit-ready
- Support month-end reporting and compliance requirements
- Improve financial control through timely reconciliation and reduced write-offs
- Reduce operational risk caused by unprocessed and rejected or non-compliant movements
- Enhance compliance and audit readiness
- Provide accurate reports for management decision-making
- Promote sustainable workload distribution, reducing dependency risk and burnout
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Clean criminal record
- Good communication skills
- 2-3 years of experience as a Pallet Controller
- Knowledge of SAP and CHEP systems
