About the Role
A leading food manufacturing company in Gauteng is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing production operations and ensuring high-quality products are delivered while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage quality product through continual monitoring of line performance and optimization of quality vs. cost relationship.
- Utilize labour hours effectively to maximize product yields and minimize breakage.
- Ensure adequate staffing is available to execute operational plans and maintain manning levels at specification.
- Develop and implement training needs for First Line Managers (FLMs) and direct reports.
- Maintain discipline through the effective use of the disciplinary code.
- Maximize quality cases produced per hour.
- Compile and analyze daily production line reports in a timely manner.
- Evaluate and categorize downtime during shifts.
- Prepare weekly performance reports and provide feedback on performance-related issues to site leadership team.
- Analyze direct cost variance report and reconcile previous production week performance to standard.
- Ensure adherence to housekeeping, food safety, and occupational safety standards.
- Improve plant audit performance and work environment.
- Direct supervisory staff in identifying and correcting unsafe conditions.
- Identify opportunities to improve production processes and/or operating methods.
- Improve on all quality weak link targets in AOP.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Production Management or equivalent.
- Knowledge of quality assurance standards and systems.
- Computer literate (Access and MS Office).
- Knowledge of safety regulations.
