About the Role

The Student Success Coach plays a vital role in developing a high-impact connection with a diverse student body on their journey through university. By actively engaging students in creating personalised success plans, goal-directed learning experiences, and collaborative approaches, this role aims to foster a sense of belonging and student ownership, ultimately increasing retention, persistence, and graduation rates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement personalised success plans for students
  • Engage students in goal-directed and collaborative learning experiences
  • Foster a sense of belonging and student ownership
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve student success goals
  • Research and develop policies and procedures related to student success
  • Design and deliver training programs to support student development

Requirements

  • Knowledge of higher education trends, both nationally and internationally, with a focus on student success and student development
  • Understanding of university processes, rules, and resources, as well as national legislation related to higher education
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students, academics, professional, and administrative staff
  • Research knowledge and basic data analysis skills
  • Student and learning development knowledge and theories, as well as student success strategies
  • Experience in case management embedded in ethical and professional practices
  • Organisational, technological, and administrative skills

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualification: four-year professional degree in psychology, social work, or education with an emphasis on psycho-social and developmental/educational support
  • Professional registration as a Psychologist, Registered Counsellor, Social Worker, Educational Psychologist, or Educator with at least an honours in educational psychology or inclusive education
