Responsibilities:
- GENERAL & PROJECT ADMIN
- 1. Admin
- 1.1 Timesheet Management
- Beginning of each new year, create a new timesheet for the department, ensure that it is fully operational.
- Manage the Drawing Office staff regarding Timesheet admin.
- 1.2 Filling –
- File all relevant Hard Copy as well as Electronic Copy documentation in correct files and Folders as received. Worktables must be clear of unnecessary Paperwork and Drawings.
- 1.3 Drawing Office Assistance –
- Assisting fellow Drawing office Staff with any Technical or Draughting queries that they might have.
- 1.4 Follow Up on work Progress
- 1.5 Checking of drawings / Models
- 1.6 Ensure all latest info are saved in the relevant folders
- 1.7 Understanding and using Vault data base
- Draughting
- 2. Refurb Projects
- 2.1 Onsite Measuring
- Existing components must be reverse engineered to almost perfect accuracy for modelling and interference checking purposes. The draftsman needs to have experience in measuring with
- Different measuring equipment especially with complicated and high accuracy components.
- this requires draftsman to sometimes go to sites and to NCPs workshops to go measure.
- 2.2 3D Modelling & Detailing –
- The draftsman should have experience in inventor and CAD as these programs is used at NCPs drawing office. Experience in 3D modelling in CAD is also required.
- Existing components must be modelled from measurements and in the case of missing components, new components must be created to fit the rest of the existing components.
- In the case of an existing component not being according to NCP Standard, Modifications must be done to get the component to NCP Standard. After components are modelled, assemblies are created to fit existing &/or new components together and check if all components fit as should.
- Components that require modification and new components must be detailed out in detail for manufacturing. This requires the draftsman to understand the fundamentals of Tolerances, geometrical tolerances, machining Symbols, and welding symbols on drawings and know how to Model and do assemblies in Inventor as most of the work will be done in Inventor.
- Communicating with Project- and Design Engineers
- The draftsman will work hand in hand with the project Engineers. When new designs are used it must be discussed with the relevant project engineer to ensure sufficient and cost affective design.
- 2.3 Interface Checking –
- Interface checking needs to be done between existing & new components for clashes. Most components fit together on very tight tolerances to ensure sufficient operation of these components. Meaning the interface checks should be done with high accuracy and according to NCP standard to ensure a perfect fit between components.
- 2.4 Layouts
- Doing layouts for design review meetings and for Client based information only drawings.
- 2.5 Parts List
- Completing parts list on all assembly drawings
- 2.6 Squad Check –
- All drawings must be placed on squad check. This is a system designed for checking of all drawings.
- The draftsman has a responsibility to check their own drawings and make sure the drawing is according to NCP Standard and has all relevant sizes and notes. After the draftsman checked their own work, they will sign the drawing and place the drawing on Squad Check. Once placed on squad check, document control will give the drawings to the relevant project- & design Engineers for checking & sign off.
