About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Burgersfort, South Africa. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for designing, reviewing, and optimising mechanical systems used in mining operations, including processing plants and mobile equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, review, and optimise mechanical systems used in mining operations, including processing plants and mobile equipment
  • Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical equipment
  • Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting of equipment failures
  • Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, process, and operations) on projects and improvements
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering calculations, and documentation
  • Manage contractors, suppliers, and service providers where required
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and asset optimisation
  • Support CAPEX and project execution activities, including budgeting and scheduling

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 38 years of experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment
  • Strong knowledge of mining equipment, processing plants, or bulk materials handling systems
  • Experience with maintenance strategies and reliability engineering
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations
  • Proficiency in engineering tools and software (e.g. CAD, maintenance systems, MS Office)
  • Professional registration (or working towards) is advantageous
