About the Role

The Fixed Asset Accountant is responsible for the end-to-end management of the fixed asset function, ensuring accurate recording, tracking, depreciation, and disposal of both tangible and intangible assets in Cape Town City Centre.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain the fixed asset register
Reconcile asset balances to the general ledger
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards
Track capital expenditure and capitalise completed projects
Support audit and impairment review processes
Conduct physical asset counts and manage multi-location asset portfolios

Requirements

Strong understanding of fixed asset accounting and asset lifecycle management
Solid knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS, specifically IAS 16 and IAS 36
Experience with asset tagging, depreciation, disposals, and impairment reviews
Ability to reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger accurately
Strong reporting and documentation skills
Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel

Qualifications

Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Accounting or Bookkeeping
