About the Role
The Fixed Asset Accountant is responsible for the end-to-end management of the fixed asset function, ensuring accurate recording, tracking, depreciation, and disposal of both tangible and intangible assets in Cape Town City Centre.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the fixed asset register
- Reconcile asset balances to the general ledger
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards
- Track capital expenditure and capitalise completed projects
- Support audit and impairment review processes
- Conduct physical asset counts and manage multi-location asset portfolios
Requirements
- Strong understanding of fixed asset accounting and asset lifecycle management
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS, specifically IAS 16 and IAS 36
- Experience with asset tagging, depreciation, disposals, and impairment reviews
- Ability to reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger accurately
- Strong reporting and documentation skills
- Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel
Qualifications
- Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Accounting or Bookkeeping
