About the Role
The Logistics Controller plays a critical role in managing and optimizing all logistics operations within the group, ensuring efficient and cost-effective shipment execution while meeting regulatory and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee and manage end-to-end logistics operations across all regions and modes of transport (air, sea, and land).
• Investigate and present costed logistical solutions to trade desks based on shipment requirements and client needs.
• Monitor and control logistics budget, perform cost analysis, and provide cost reports to management.
• Develop and implement logistics performance indicators to ensure cost efficiency, delivery reliability, and process improvement.
• Ensure compliance with import/export regulations, pre-shipment inspections, and certification requirements in each operating region.
• Manage logistics service providers, negotiate rates, and ensure adherence to SLAs and best practices.
• Provide regular feedback and improvement requirements to service providers to ensure best service delivery.
• Coordinate closely with procurement teams in South Africa and France to align logistics plans with purchasing and trade desk activities.
• Engage with subsidiary offices (Gabon, Congo, Angola, Namibia, South Africa, Mozambique) or direct end client to support shipment execution as applicable.
• Supervise and guide Logistics Coordinators, ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, and timelines.
• Review and approve logistics documentation, including bills of lading, inspection certificates, and customs paperwork.
• Identify opportunities and implement tools and processes to improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness across all logistics processes.
Requirements
Strong analytical and financial acumen with proven cost control and reporting skills. Comprehensive understanding of international shipping, import/export compliance, and African port procedures. Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation abilities. Proficiency in logistics management systems or ERP tools. Ability to coordinate effectively across multiple offices and regions.
