About the Role
Mecad Systems is seeking an experienced Fitter and Turner to join our team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing production machinery used in the beverage manufacturing process. They will work closely with maintenance and production teams to ensure efficient plant operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, and service production machinery used in the beverage manufacturing process.
- Machine, manufacture, and refurbish mechanical components using lathes, milling machines, and other workshop equipment.
- Work with piston-driven and hydraulic systems used in filling, packaging, and processing equipment.
- Perform precision measurements to ensure components meet required tolerances.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out corrective maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Interpret technical drawings and machine components accordingly.
- Assist with preventative maintenance schedules for plant equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in the workshop and production areas.
Requirements
- Qualified Fitter and Turner Trade Test
- Experience working with piston systems, pumps, or hydraulic equipment
- Strong experience operating lathes, milling machines, and other machining equipment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience working in a manufacturing or beverage production environment advantageous
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team
